Another day in vain

She drinks a bottle of whiskey, alone
She feels so weary
Tries to think, her brain can't make it,
and her heart, it aches

She's writing on a bench in the park,
leaving just a stain
It's hard, even when it's dark

She wants to write great stories
Brilliant lines of poetry
Shout it out, her voice don't work,

In deze rivier
verdronk zij haar zorgen en zichzelf
In deze goot was het
dat zij niet gaf om morgen
In dit lichaam
heeft zij zichzelf verborgen
voor de liefde

Uit angst verkozen te worden,
de streling te verdragen,
te beminnen en te behagen

M'n armen omsluiten
haar kil en levenloos lichaam
Ik voel me dor en eenzaam,
en ik weet dat,
uit angst verlaten te worden,

iedere dag weer
een gevecht betekent
om antwoorden te vinden
op vragen die aan de oever
blijven liggen
